Posted in Cardmaking on 01/06/2009 12:29 pm by MichelleVerve Stamps is releasing more stamps! Friday January 9th & Julee is kicking off another week of fun challenges.
Check it out here for the details for Day #1.
Here is my card for Day #1 (which was yesterday), a color challenge. I made a very simple card. I also used Mojo Monday’s Sketch for December 29th found here.
The Tale of Despereaux…
Posted in Movies on 01/04/2009 11:43 am by MichelleI took my son & daugther to see this movie last night with a friend of my son’s from school & his Mom, the boy’s were sooo excited to be going to a movie together, my daughter was kinda tagging along & I enjoyed talking with another Mom!!!!
The movie on the other hand in my opinion wasn’t that exciting especially for 5 year old boy’s & my daughter wasn’t impressed with it at all! but, Despereaux is pretty stinkin’ cute that’s for sure!
Pink Cat Studio: Lily the Fairy Contest
Posted in Cardmaking on 01/04/2009 10:45 am by MichelleAs soon as I saw Melissa’s post found here I knew that I wanted to participate in her challenge. I simply adore Lily the Fairy & I think this stamp set is going to be my favorite so far!
Here is my entry:
I wanted to make her all pretty, pink & glamorous! I used Bazzill Bling cardstock & SU’s new DS Paper (can’t remember what it is called now) & my Copic markers to color her in. You can’t tell but she has a lot of sparkle to her too, like her flower wand, her wings, etc. All stamps are by Pink Cat Studio.
I based my card on a sketch from Pink Cat Studio found here.
Life with Baxter…
Posted in Baxter on 01/03/2009 09:00 am by MichelleIt’s been 2 weeks since we brought Baxter home, he is doing good. He is sleeping good at night in his kennel beside our bed (thanks Angela for the tip!), he now only wakes up once with a little bit of whimpering to let us know he has to go use the bathroom, hubby puts him on his pee mat in our bathroom than he puts him right back in his kennel to sleep, he is now sleeping for about 7-8 hours at a time in the evening which is great. He has now figured out how to get upstairs (just this AM), so we have now had to block off the front entry way so he can’t go upstairs as I still don’t trust him with leaving his “mark” all thru my house! We still keep a very close eye on him when he is awake & I think he is just starting to get that he needs to go to his pee mats himself to go to the bathroom, he rides in his kennel when we go in the car which hasn’t been often, he makes a little bit of noise for about 5 mins than settles in all comfy cozy, since my hubby has been off on holidays from work it’s been easy for 1 of us to run out & do errands while the other one babysits him, it will be a little more challenging come Monday. He is 7 1/2 weeks now, he will be 8 weeks on Wednesday so we can start the vaccination process which I will be glad to start, I’m a little paranoid that he might catch something, he hasn’t been outside at all yet since it’s been so cold & snowy here not to mention that he isn’t vaccinated yet. 8 weeks is that magical number in a puppy’s world. He is full of energy & likes to play ALOT, according to The Dog Whisperer he is a high energy dog which we already knew, on a scale of 1-4 he is a 3 (LOL), it will be so nice once it gets nicer outside so we can run him hard. I would love to get his nipping under control & his constant need for chewing everything & anything, so he will be going to obedience school soon & we are watching every dog show on TV & trying to read everything, so if you have any tips about this let me know & also about training him on the leash, that would be great, we did get a collar for him, that was quite comical to watch, but, he has adjusted fine to the collar. We still are not sure what he is going to look like…more Border Collie or more Beagle & what his hair length will be like, I would be quite happy if he stays this way.
That’s about it…our life with Baxter, sometimes I think I am nuts to think I can train a puppy!
Happy Saturday!
Sorry for showing a pic of Baxter close up & personal! He loves snoozing with his monkey (just like my son!).
He loves his bed & his kennel.
Altered picture frames…
Posted in Papercrafts on 12/28/2008 11:18 am by MichelleI made these frames for a lovely 16 year old young lady for Christmas!
I love how they turn out when I alter them but, I like to paint the back of mine & the inside of the frame & outside which makes it time consumming but, I just love, love the outcome.
I hope she likes them!
I chose this paper with friendship in mind.
I chose this paper with love in mind, any kind of love!
Bolt…
Posted in Movies on 12/28/2008 09:56 am by MichelleLast weekend I took my son to see the movie Bolt, my daughter had gone swimming earlier in the day with her Dad, so I said I would take him to see Bolt since my daughter had no interest in seeing it, not sure why!
It is very cute & funny. My son couldn’t stop laughing!
Christmas Review…
Posted in Christmas, Family, Pictures on 12/27/2008 09:46 am by Michelle**SIGH** Christmas is now over, it was a nice, quiet, very low-key Christmas but, I am glad it’s over now. No more rushing around, no more deadlines, no more countdowns! & for this I am thankful.
I am glad that the kid’s are home for another week, we will just hang around & enjoy our time together & decompress.
Here are some pics from Christmas:
I thought this was a very cool gift, it’s a Solar System Mobile, the sun lights up while the planets go around & there is a remote control, I know my hubby thought this was a great gift too!
Our son received 2 gifts from Santa, he opened another one first which was a digital camera & he was in tears because this was not what he had asked Santa for, we quickly assured him there was another one & when he opened this one he flopped to the floor & said, “whew” now I’m happy! This is all he had asked Santa for: Super Mario Partners in Time for his DS.
Our daughter had asked Santa for a pink DS Lite.
DS games to go with her pink DS Lite.
A quiet moment…
I had watched Oprah’s show in which she cooked a turkey dinner with Cristina Ferrare. I thought it looked yummy so my hubby & I made this turkey with Cristina’s receipe found here and I also made her stuffing found here. Everything tasted really, really yummy, the lemon was a little overwhelming at the end, but, the marinade was really good & we also, made the gravy from scratch which was a first for us. I don’t have a great history with cooking poultry so of course this dinner did not go without some kind of trouble, the turkey took forever to cook (a 15 lb turkey for 4 people, 2 of which were kid’s!) & so did the stuffing, it took FOREVER to cook, but, in the end it was all good, we also, ate it last night for leftovers, now I’m done!!!
Eating our yummy turkey!
Boxing Day we went to my in-laws for brunch & gift opening for the kid’s.
Our daughter got this amazing easel & an extra kit with paints, etc in it. She is very excited, she loves to draw & paint & is becoming quite the artist!
Our son received a digital Spidey watch in his stocking, best $2 I ever spent! He even sleeps with it on.
My hubby LOVES chocolate so every Christmas he gets this massive, jumbo chocolate bar, I think it was like 10 lbs or something!
It didn’t actually snow on Christmas Day but, we certainly have more than enough snow for a white Christmas.
Origami
Our son the little gamer, I can only hope that one day he will be the designer behind all these games!
Puppy LOVE???
Posted in Baxter, Family on 12/25/2008 12:27 pm by MichelleI think NOT!!! I am not feeling the love here!!!
Please ignore my “extra wing!” This lovely bite is on my right inner arm just below my shoulder.
