Advent Calendar…

AdventAdvent #2Advent #3Advent #4Advent #5Advent #6

Once I saw Beate’s awesome tutorial found here I knew I had to make not just one but TWO (one for each kid)! I know insane, a blog that I visit daily was saying that these are a labor of love, well, indeed they are! If you make one be prepared to spend some many hours making them!

I already had canvas’s in stock, all I had to get was the watchmaker tin’s, I used ones that Beate suggested, I used a coupon at Michael’s but they are still quite costly (about 60 cents per tin, there are 30 in a bucket) and I had to buy some Velcro which runs about $2.97 per package for 15 sets, I couldn’t find any at the dollar stores. I bought some gold thumb tacks at the dollar store to reinforce the ribbon and I also punched a scallop for the inside of the lid as seeing the adhesive on the inside of the lid was a little disturbing…to ME!

Instead of stamping the title and all those little numbers and THAN cutting them out I used a friend’s Sizzlets in my Cuttlebug, a little quicker, other than that I just followed Beate’s awesome tutorial since I just loved everything about her’s!

I’m about 1/2 way finished the second one which is using Basic Grey paper, so hopefully by next weekend I’ll have it done if not sooner.

This is awesome!! I *so* need to make one! What did you use to adhere the numbers to the tins? I guess I could run them through my xyron. Do the tins have clear lids?

I used the little Xyron to put the numbers onto the 1 3/8″ circle and than I used double sided sticky tape to adhere the scallop circles onto the lid. The lids are clear & they actually pop out & in so you can adhere both scallops evenly.

Super job! My goodness this is a huge project to take on! I wanted to do it as well but haven’t found the tins at any of our Michaels….and I’ll definitely use a coupon too ;)
Like your idea of die cutting the numbers and letters…WAY faster! Wish I had an alpha and number set…lol
Can’t wait to see your second one!

Awesome Michelle. I really want to make one now as well. I know you can get the tins at Lee Valley Hardware as well in various sizes and they are cheaper than Michaels…about 45 cents per tin. Can’t wait to make one, TFS Michelle

I LOVE this idea!! I was just poking around at ideas for a christmas calendar, like the one we had as kids, and fell in love with this idea!
