Real.Life.Scrapbooking.

01 May

Real.Life.Scrapbooking.

I finished reading this book by Rebecca Cooper a couple of days ago, really it is a book!

This is a fabulous book full of simple, gorgeous layouts, I literally read it from cover to cover, every little bit of info, I even read the journalling!

It really teaches you to scrapbook the everyday moments whether it’s your kid’s picking their noses, your pantry, your grocery list / bill, the meals you make, your everyday life moments & I think we all “forget” to do this, it’s not all about the glorious, cute posed pictures that we all like to take & scrapbook & it’s not about the supplies you use, it’s about capturing your life on film & scrapbooking everything that makes us…”us.”

Click here to visit Rebecca Cooper’s blog “Simple as that”.

I love Rebecca’s style – she is down to earth & real, she takes amazing pics & she is from Alberta!!

The Pact…

10 Apr

The Pact

This is the most recent book that I just finished reading last night, it definately took me longer to read than some books. For me it kind of started off slow but, than it got really interesting, as I kept reading I really wanted to know what the outcome was going to be…it really is a touching, heart wrenching story of friendship & love with a dark secret.

Synopsis can be found here.

Books, books & more books…

14 Feb

The Almost MoonNew MoonEclipse

I’m a little behind on my posting about the books I’ve read lately.

I finished reading the last 2 books in the Twilight Series a while ago now & after I put down Eclipse I was so “depressed” that I had to wait till the Fall of this year for the 4th & final book in the series…Breaking Dawn but, I was just on Stephenie Meyer’s website & found out I only have to wait till August 2nd, I am sooo flippin’ excited! I am thinking of reading all 3 books AGAIN before the 4th one is out – these books are the best reading that I have experienced in a long time & I absolutely CANNOT wait for the movie to come out (December 12th, 2008). Briggitte mark your calendar! We are going to see this movie for our movie & dinner night! So you better start reading these novels! AND her book The Host for adults comes out May 6th…WOOHOO!

I’m a pretty big fan of Alice Sebold’s novels also especially after reading The Lovely Bones & Lucky so when her 3rd book came out…The Almost Moon & I read the reviews I was a little hesitant to read it but, I did because I like her writing & sure it’s not as good as The Lovely Bones but it was still a good read. I also cannot wait for the movie The Lovely Bones to come out (2009).

Now the problem that I have run into is that I have nothing to read! Does anyone have a favorite book that they have read that is a MUST read? Please leave me a comment if you do.

Twilight by Stephenie Meyer…

15 Nov

Twilight

I just finished reading this awesome book yesterday, it came highly recommended by a few of my friends.

Once I started reading it I couldn’t put it down, it just captivated me right away and that’s what I need in a book. In this series there is another 2 books and one more being released in the Fall of 2008 and than one more after that. Maybe even a movie…the problem I have now is that I put the other 2 books on my Christmas Wish List and I don’t think, NO, I know that I can’t wait till Christmas to read the next book!

This book would definately be a great Christmas gift, even all 3 of them, they are getting great reviews.

Check out the author’s website here and check out my friend Bobbi’s review of the series here.

A Million Little Pieces…

22 Aug

by James Frey

A Million Little Pieces is a great book, it is very graphic, raw, no holds bar, reading this book I felt like I was right there with the Author experiencing his 6 week stint in rehab.

James Frey appeared on Oprah, his book was picked for Oprah’s “Book Club”. After he appeared on Oprah there was some controversary about some of the information in the book being false, this didn’t bother me I wanted to read the book and it was a great read, I’m glad I did, it really gives you some insight into an addicts life and an addicts journey during recovery if he / she chooses to do so.

I really liked his beliefs, he was totally accountable for all his actions, there was no blame towards anyone. I could understand why he didn’t believe in AA and the Twelve Steps.

Harry Potter…

11 Aug

Whew…well I have now finished the 6th and 7th Harry Potter books, they were absolutely FANTASTIC!

After seeing the 5th movie with my friend Bobbi we were talking about how she had read ALL the books, I didn’t quite understand at first that the 5th movie had just come out, BUT, the 6th book was already out and the 7th and FINAL book was coming out in a week, I said huh, really? Yep, she said that if I liked I could borrow the 6th one, I thought about it while we were driving home for a split second and said sure, I wasn’t sure how I was going to find the time to read a 600 page book with kids at home right now than I said hey, if you can do it with 4 kids than what’s my problem?! I got it that night and I couldn’t put it down, any free moment I was reading, reading and breathing Harry Potter, than I finished that one, the 7th one had just come out, Bobbi read it really quickly and I was able to borrow and start it while on holidays, I just finished it last night, it was great, J.K Rowling is a fantastic writer, it just amazes me that she wrote not just 1 fantastic Harry Potter book but 7…for crying out loud! So that’s what I have been doing for the last month, living and breathing Harry Potter. I cannot wait for the last 2 movies to come out. Thanks Bobbi for letting me borrow your books!

Have you heard about The Secret?

16 Mar

The Secret is a world wide phenomenon…if you haven’t heard about it click here:

http://www.thesecret.tv/

It could very well change your life. I just finished watching the DVD (about 1 1/2 hrs long) while working out for the last 3 days. Billy has watched it 3 times, I think you need to in order to grasp it all. The book is VERY HARD to find. If you get a chance to watch the DVD or read the book I suggest you do.
