12×12 Flower layout…

Posted in Scrapbooking

My daughter took a kid’s class at our local scrapbook store & they did a 12×12 layout. Isn’t it cute? See, my daughter at least has been productive this weekend!

Wall Art…

Yipee…I made something…oh my gosh…amazing!!! I finally got my butt out of this “funk” & made something today! I thought my mojo was gone forevah!!!

I’ve had these shadow boxes for over a year now I’m sure, I picked them up for about $10 each at Hallmark Cards, they actually were Holly Hobby shadow boxes, they had all these “cute” little things pinned to them, etc, it’s almost like a canvas inside & you can actually stick pins in them, etc…so I thought hey, I can do something with these, they are really nice, not cheap shadow boxes, nice wood, etc.

Well when we moved I came across them after I moved the stuff I couldn’t fit into my craft room into the basement than I went into the basement to go thru everything & pick out what I wanted to sell & what I wanted to keep, I came across them & brought them upstairs & said I can make something out of them to hang on our walls, I decided that when we moved into this place that I would frame my photography, etc instead of buying, well not buying expensive artwork, so it’s working out well.

I was flipping thru the new catalogue & on Page 12 I really liked what they had done with a frame…so I was inspired. I didn’t want to leave the house today so I sat down & got busy. Everything came together nice & quick. I dyed the Pretties flower with the new Classic Riding Hood Red ink pad, used the new scallop border punch to mat the pictures, SU rub-ons (my Son’s says “Good Times” & my daughter’s says “Follow Your Heart”) & everything else is pretty simple…I {heart} them…ALOT!

Another layout from the scrapbooking retreat I went to, this one was designed by Cari Locken, an absolutely gorgeous layout, this was our “Family” layout, where the pic is was actually suppose to be hidden journalling behind the pic but, I ran out of room with my embellishments, so I just stuck my pic on the journalling card.

This layout was suppose to be our “Faith” layout, I changed it all up & used it as a “Billy & Me” layout!

All Girl LayoutProud of ItAll GirlFlowersDreamFlower with Mesh

This layout is a Monday Night Class kit, I’m becoming addicted quickly! Good for them, bad for me! You can’t tell but, all the letters & the “dream” chipboard has Glassy Glaze on it, it looks really cool on the chipboard & the flowers have metal, silver mesh behind them. This is my 2nd most favorite layout…evah!

Cherish LayoutAll the FlowersBig FlowersCherish

This is another Monday Night Class layout, this is my most favorite layout & the gorgeous pics that my friend Bobbi took make it look even more spectacular. I also used Glassy Glaze on the flowers, little beads of it.

I just realized that my pics almost seem a little “fuzzy” or “grainy”, well it’s because I didn’t have a setting right for when I make my pics smaller, sorry, all pics should be better on future postings, I didn’t want to re-do this post.

I still have 3 more layouts to post, I just have to add some pics & start one of them, it’s a kit!

Scrapbook Your Heart Retreat…

Posted in Family, Scrapbooking

The Scrapbook Your Heart Retreat at Camp Caroline was awesome! Camp Caroline is gorgeous, to bad it rained so  much. The rooms were a good size, bunks were great, very clean. Pam our host was a lovely, funny lady.

When we arrived we had a lovely bag FULL of all sorts of yummy treats for all of us (there was 4 of us in our room). We did 4 layouts based on: Family, Friends, Faith & Fun, these layouts are to die for, they are just gorgeous (I will be posting pics tomorrow). Every AM we had a yummy breakie, than we all (100 ladies) got together & won door prizes (everyone got something in the end) thanks to all the sponsors, than we would watch some kind of presentation about each of the topics, talked about each one & than we got to make the layout, than we would have open crop time, Saturday there was a bunch of wonderful classes that you could take for a reasonable fee, we had great lunches, lots of door prizes (did I mention this already!), than it was crop time again, than it was yummy dinner, than more cropping than it was snack time, than you just cropped till you wanted to, all our meals were provided for us, all our snacks, coffee & tea, layouts, make n’ takes, we had special “presents” on our tables each morning, we also got $15 in ”scrap bucks” to use at any of the vendor’s or to enter the funraising draw. Monday Night Class, The Scrap Yard & Christine from CTMH had booths set up. The instructors were so fun & talented. There was a fundraiser for 3 great prize packages that supported 2 great charities, alot of money was raised. All the ladies that were involved were just so wonderful, upbeat, talented, had wonderful, wonderful ideas & did such a great job of organizing this event - THANK YOU ladies! We were so spoiled, it really was a wonderful ladies weekend & I got to spend it with some amazing woman. The only complaint I had…only 9 hours sleep in 2 days! but, it was sooo worth it, we laughed so hard sometimes that I thought I might just pee my pants! I am really hoping that Allison plans on doing it again next year.

Card for SCFK

A challenge was put out to make Happy Birthday Cards for Canada’s Scrapbooking Crop for Kid’s. This is the card I made, it’s by no means my “favorite”, I was working with limited supplies! but, someone will love receiving it & that’s all that matters. There were 74 cards made at this event.

Me with my fav layout

This pic was taken by another attendee at 11:30PM who had taken Allison Orthner’s photo class earlier in the day, it was pretty comical, she was telling me how to pose, etc. This layout was my all time fav that I did over the weekend, it is a kit from Monday Night Class, their kit’s are to die for. This layout took me a long, long time, alot of blood, sweat & tears! Just kidding, but, alot of CUTTING! I will post a better pic tomorrow.

Dining Hall & Crop area

This is where we ate all our yummy meals & also where we cropped, in the back of the room with a gorgeous view.

Memories in Motion Scrapbooking

Kelly from Memories in Motion Scrapbooking came & visited us while we were scrapbooking on Saturday, what a great idea, a scrapbook store on wheels that comes to YOU!

Stairs to the zip line

On Saturday afternoon while the rain had taken a temporary break my SIL & I went for a walk about, these stairs are to the zip line.

NSDFamily Traits

These were the other 2 layouts that we did with Cindy Schow from Simple Scrapbooks on National Scrapbooking Day. On the first one I’m not sure what or if I will add anything to the “NSD” pocket & than I added some SU rub-ons & rhinestones to jazz it up a bit.

NSD - National Scrapbooking Day…

Thanks CardMr. MonkeyBig ShoesAchooLove

So everyone knows that yesterday was National Scrapbooking Day…I hope!

I spent the day celebrating at an all day crop from 10AM - 10PM that I went to with friends & family. The gals from The Scrap Yard were the hosts & Cindy Schow from Simple Scrapbooks was the featured guest, Cindy brought with her some great ideas & tips & we made 2 layouts & a card, she also brought along some wonderful door prizes. After Cindy left it was free time to scrapbook for a few hours than it was lunch time, yummy sandwiches, veggies & cookies, the afternoon brought more scrapbooking & than Christy Riopel from Monday Night Class gave us a 12×12 layout to scrapbook, we were able to pick 1 design from 4 choices. Monday Night Class kits are fabulous - so much fun & alot of product is included in their kit’s. After that it was dinner which consisted of Pizza, breadsticks & wings than it was on to more scrapbooking. There was lots & lots of amazing door prizes & I was lucky enough to win 2 of them! Also, when we came thru the doors we received a “goodie bag” that had some fabulous stuff in it. The gals at The Scrap Yard all did an amazing job, the only complaint I had was that the hall was to small for 50 woman with all their scrapbooking stuff, it shocks me at how much stuff some of them bring!

The “Thanks” card was from Cindy at Simple Scrapbooks (did I mention she is from Cardston, AB)? The bottom layout, “love” is by Monday Night Class.

I still have 2 more layouts from Cindy that just need to have pics added to them & than I’ll post them too, overall I was very pleased with how much I got done…it’s ALOT for ME!!!

Real.Life.Scrapbooking.

I finished reading this book by Rebecca Cooper a couple of days ago, really it is a book!

This is a fabulous book full of simple, gorgeous layouts, I literally read it from cover to cover, every little bit of info, I even read the journalling!

It really teaches you to scrapbook the everyday moments whether it’s your kid’s picking their noses, your pantry, your grocery list / bill, the meals you make, your everyday life moments & I think we all “forget” to do this, it’s not all about the glorious, cute posed pictures that we all like to take & scrapbook & it’s not about the supplies you use, it’s about capturing your life on film & scrapbooking everything that makes us…”us.”

Click here to visit Rebecca Cooper’s blog “Simple as that”.

I love Rebecca’s style - she is down to earth & real, she takes amazing pics & she is from Alberta!!
