10 Oct

Last night I went to my friend’s house to hang out & scrap, I decided that I would work on the kid’s halloween treat bags for their classes at school. I ended up finishing all 60 of them. Yay!

AND I had a great evening hanging out with Nancy & BL, we had dinner, went to Starbuck’s, talked, scrapped & BL even brought us a Crave Cupcake, yummy!

Thanks ladies for a fun night. Only 4 more weeks till we get together again.

Have a Happy Thanksgiving weekend everyone!

Thanksgiving Boxes…

05 Oct

Today my friend & I made Thanksgiving boxes for Sunday dinner, we made a total of 11 & it took only about 1 hour, very simple & quick oh & CUTE!!!

Box template is from Stampin’ Up!

Thanksgiving Boxes

Sorry BL the Reese Peanut Butter Cups wouldn’t fit in the box so they are heading to Billy’s work tomorrow :}

BL brought 2 curtain rods & decorative ends that she “acquired” by dumpster diving in her neighbors garbage container (long story!) & so I went to Wal-mart & bought the mounts & rings (approx $30) & my hubby mounted it for me tonight, love that I have constant inspiration right above my work area & I can change the layouts anytime.

Not sure what I will do with the other one, do you want it BL?

Thanks BL!

Members Night at Scrapbook Pantry…

15 Sep

Saturday night I went to the Scrapbook Pantry’s Members Night event with 2 friends, it was lots of fun.

They had 3 make n’ takes, prizes every 1/2 hour & a grand prize worth $500, free gift (6×6 album), 25% off of everything, lots & LOTS of chocolate & treats, punch, tables were set up outside so we could sit down & chat, just overall a great time.

Crystal & her staff did a wonderful job.

Christy's Christmas Card

This was a make n’ take designed by Christy from Monday Night Class. I love this card, I never think to use patterned paper as my card base & what a great way to use up all your scraps of ribbon.

Christmas Scallop Ornament

Another make n’ take, very quick way to make some cute christmas ornaments, just use a scallop punch or scallop nestability.

Halloween treat bag & a book…

27 Aug

I preordered some “stuff” from Stampin’ Up!’s Holiday Mini & I was excited to try out the Sweet Centers stamp set & the Sweet Treat Cups so I decided to make a halloween project following Tracy’s (Inky Doodles) post found here.

Halloween treat

I read a really quick, good book, sad but, good in the sense that it made me appreciate my life even more, to try & not take things for granted, even the tiny, tiny things!

Christmas, Present by Jacquelyn Mitchard

Christmas, Present

At our local library a lady helped me find using Airdrie Public Library’s website other authors that are similar to the authors I like to read but, are hard to find in the library like Jodi Picoult so this is an author that came up.

Well I should scoot & get ready to take my kid’s to swimming lessons, only 1 more day after today, thank goodness!

Teacher gifts…

26 Jun

My how quickly the end of school creeps up on you when you aren’t paying attention, it dawned on me Tuesday that I needed teacher gifts, so I spent Wednesday working my a** off to make some teacher gifts for my kid’s to give to their teachers.

3×3 card tote, isn’t it “sweet?” Tutorial can be found here.

3×3 cards to fit in the tote, I made 24 (a little bit of a pain because I colored the flowers in each time to stamp with Stampin’ Up! markers), I made 3 totes with 8 cards in each with envelopes. Totally cased from a SU demo named Sandra who included a lovely card in my bag when she returned some cardstock to me. So thanks Sandra for the inspiration!

Gift card holder (Starbuck’s). I’m sorry I don’t know who to give credit for this quick & easy gift card holder, I saved it to my computer & for some reason didn’t write down who did it…so if it’s you…please leave me a comment. Thanks!

Inside.

I made 4 of these with matching envelopes for teachers, totally cased from Lisa, click here to see her gorgeous card.

Card with matching envelope. I stayed up till Midnight on Wednesday to make sure these cards were done so the kid’s could write them out Thurs AM.

Well school will be officially over at Noon today & than the craziness begins!

I hope you & your family enjoy your Summer holiday’s. I’m sure ours will be memorable!

Butterfly inspiration…

21 Jun

These canvas’s took forever to complete for some reason, I painted them in the Fall, than they sat in my scrapbook room for month’s, than I saw Amy’s post here & I fell in love with what she did, so I said that’s what I’m going to do with mine & also add some inspiration that my family can look at everytime they come downstairs to start their day. The quote is from Winston Churchill, the butterflies were stamped in Versamark on Stampin’ Up! cardstock, than embossed with Stampin’ Up! detail black embossing powder than hand cut over a few days (I still have some left). I still want to paint on some Shimmerz but, I’m waiting for my order, so that’s something I can do anytime.

Some other stuff, my son lost his 2nd tooth on Tuesday very exciting.

and I’m reading a new series of books by Kristin Billerbeck, I’m currently on the 2nd book of her “Spa Girl Series”, she has a couple of series of books, quite good, funny, & light humour…an easy read. I picked them up at Chapters downtown Vancouver for $3.49 EACH, I love a sweet deal.

We are heading out to my inlaws shortly for Father’s Day dinner with our whole family. I hope whatever you are doing you are celebrating the fabulous men in your lives & are enjoying your blessed day.

Easter Candy Tubes…

12 Apr

My friend Brenda-Lee and I made these Easter tubes Thursday night for all the adults at our Easter dinner today, we made 9 of them, and than we had to re-do them AGAIN on Saturday night! They were a little tedious to make but, in the end they looked great!

We used acrylic 12×12 sheets the first time for the tubing found at The Scrap Yard, it is alot heavier than window sheets from Stampin’ Up! or acetate, I wasn’t sure if it was going to be too thick and in the end it was, they all popped open but 3! by Saturday, the 2nd time around we used transparency sheets from Staples and so far so good, they are still together!

We used the tutorial found here at Paper, Scissors, Superheroes.

There is only one happiness…

06 Apr

I bought this rustic looking frame at The Dollar Store sometime in the Fall last year! It took me this long to do something with it, something so simple!

I love the saying & I love how it turned out, I used Shimmerz on the butterflies & added some more bling.

I have this hanging in my ensuite bathroom, I can even write a little love note for my hubby on the chalkboard if I choose too!

Tags & a movie…

08 Feb

When I went to the Scrapbook Pantry’s birthday celebration a few weeks ago I did a make n’ take by Colleen Macdonald who is a Ranger Certified Teacher & I’m sure you have heard of her, she does just amazing stuff!

The first tag is what I made at the Scrapbook Pantry using 3 different Staz On ink’s & Tim Holtz Distress Ink’s, I can’t remember which colors & which ones I used…sorry! than on Friday night at my friend’s fun, stamp night I created another tag using Stampin’ Up!’s Classic ink’s in Pumpkin Pie, Apricot Appeal & More Mustard, I tried using my Staz On ink’s to create the same effect but, mine were brand new & just way to juicey, you use a Sponging Block by Stamp-It made in Australia to apply the ink, everytime you do it you will get a different “look”, so my tag this time around is quite subtle but, I think it’s quite pretty.

Last night I took the kid’s to see Hotel for Dogs, what a great movie, we laughed sooo hard & it was soooo stinkin’ cute, a must see for the family.

Have a restful Sunday!

Lunchbox Love Notes…

01 Feb

I have been putting “love notes” or words of encouragement in my daughter’s lunch box for a long time now, at the beginning of the school year I wanted to make something a little more “pretty”, it’s taken me this long to do something!!!

I bought a book from Chapters called Lunch Box Letters back in September & than I ran across an article in the February issue of Creating Keepsakes by Maggie Holmes found here & off I went, I added lots of bling & lots of pink, my daughter’s favorite color & than I started writing out the notes, I still have a few more to write but, the ones I have will keep me going for a bit, I made 31 in total.
