Weekend stuff…so far

30 May

This weekend has been absolutely gorgeous & warm in Calgary, lovely, the kid’s have been playing from morning till night outside & we have been airing our home out but, at the same time welcoming lots & lots of dust in!

I picked up my daughter from school Friday & was able to see their butterfly project, her class has been raising butterflies right from the very beginning stages starting with the caterpillar, it’s very cool everything they have done & they will be able to release all the butterflies this week at school.

Sorry, for the poor color, I was having a heck of a time!

Friday after my daughter finished school I took them for lunch than we went to see the movie Up with my daughter’s friend & Mom, we saw it in 3-D, there really wasn’t alot of 3-D I didn’t think, the previews had more, it was an OK movie, rather sad actually…kinda sad when you see a time line of the way life may be for one in a nutshell but, it did have some funny parts.

after the movie we came home & than I took the kid’s to go buy my daughter a new bike, she was very excited & has been riding her wee little heart out!

This AM my daughter & I went out early in the AM for a little bit of shopping, than it was off to soccer, than ice cream at DQ, than the kid’s & I went for a long, hot walk, well I walked & the kid’s rode their bikes, than my daughter made us a nice, simple dinner of spaghetti & sauce with sliced cuke’s…& the kid’s continue to play.

I bought a new 50mm lens for our camera today, here are some pics I took, still fooling around, getting use to not being able to zoom, etc…I know it can take great portrait pictures but, it takes getting use to that’s for sure, I got some very, very blurry backgrounds!!!

Soccer today.

My daughter not at all impressed with me!

My son playing on a rock.

A vintage wash.

My handsome hubby.

Cute toes.

Fooling around on Dad’s shoulders. Vintage wash.

and than after a full day of playing this is what my son looks like!!!

Dirt…head to toe!

Vintage wash.

Now a funny, conversation went like this to my son:

Where’s your Monster trucks?

In the tree…he replies

the tree? what the heck?

with some help from my daughter but of course!

Signs of Spring???

26 May

OK, so I’m a little behind on the whole blogging thing but, you know what? that’s OK!!!

May long weekend was a weekend that we spent in town hanging around, we went to the in-laws for a nice, long walk (since the weather was actually nice!) & dinner, as we were walking along I FINALLY noticed that perhaps Spring had finally sprung.

My daughter possibly a future “tree hugger!!!”

Mother’s Day Tea…

03 May

Yesterday my daughter and I had the pleasure of attending a Mother’s Day Tea at my friend’s church, it was sooo good. There were about 40 Mother’s and Daughter’s, we started with a fun game, kind of like a scavenger hunt through our purses!!! Than we were treated to a baked potato salad bar (the best salad I have had in a long time), we were than served beverages and desserts by some wonderful men that volunteered their time yesterday. Than we listened to a lesson by Cookie (the organizer), some songs, lots of prayers and than the kid’s played tag outside for a while afterwards, it was a great way to spend a gorgeous, sunny afternoon and I feel blessed to have been invited.

Cookie did a wonderful job, all the ladies of the church did, the tables were beautifully decorated using purple and yellow, there were little tiny clay flower pots with chocolates in them, the centrepiece tied into the lesson (Isaiah 64:8) and at the end when we were leaving the Mother’s received a nice plaque with a scripture in it and the kid’s received a fun treat bag.

The centrepiece.

My daughter eating ALOT of food, she must have really enjoyed it because she cleaned her whole plate off!!!

Us just having FUN!

My gorgeous daughter.

Well I’m off to enjoy another gorgeous day here with my family, I have a project that I’m working on for my son so hopefully I’ll finish that today.

My cute, little boy…

26 Apr

My son started soccer Tuesday night, his first time. I volunteered my husband to coach his team, the first practice / game was quite overwhelming! He only got 3 hours sleep that night he was so concerned how he was going to make everything better than the first time! Saturday they had their 2nd practice / game and it went much better after going over some stuff and “coaching” my husband a little. I’m sure he is still cursing me though for volunteering him. My son seems to be enjoying himself even in Saturday’s cold, snowy weather!

I just got my son’s hair cut again, his hair grows so fast and it is so thick, well he really wanted a mohawk, I said, no, how about a “fauxhawk”, so this is what we got and he seems to be happy with it! He is sooo cute and he has the biggest, brownest eyes, is that even a word???

Big Hill Springs Provincial Park & a book…

19 Apr

Yesterday we took the kid’s to Big Hill Springs Provincial Park, it’s 30KM West of Airdrie, this was our first time going there, when I first got there, I was like great…BORING!!! My hubby is really good at taking us on these “great adventures” to no where!!! but, than we started walking into this amazing little “forest” and we hiked and we hiked, we got up pretty high, the view was breathtaking, there were little rivers everywhere, still some snow, ice and mud but, the kid’s had a blast, and it was soooo warm in certain parts of the valley’s.

We would definately go there again and bring our lunches.

My son is a total “ham”, this was a walking stick that he “acquired” on our hike, it was as tall as me!

I thought this was a cool view along our hike, a snowy pathway.

My daughter is the biggest “poser” ever. I never have a hard time getting pics of her. This was on top of the hill.

This turned out to be a cool pic I believe!

These flowers were growing all over the top of the hill thru the hay like grass.

I also finished another book yesterday, 3 Willows by: Ann Brashares. It was good, I am a fan of The Sisterhood, I had no idea really what this book was about, it didn’t really have anything to do with The Sisterhood but, it had “references”, a good, light hearted read.

You can go here to read a little bit about it.

Well I hope you all have a great sunny Sunday, today is the last day of Spring Break, yippeeeeee!!!

The Calgary Zoo & some recipes…

16 Apr

Yesterday I took the kid’s to the Calgary Zoo, the kid’s wanted to see the Koala’s up close & personal, well as close as you can get thru a glass window, they look cute, that’s about it! They are on “loan” from the San Diego Zoo until September. I finally also got to see the Stingray’s up close which was very cool, they are kinda cute!

It wasn’t the warmest day here in Calgary yesterday, a little breezy & when that sun went away…brrr!

Some fun!

I thought this was pretty funny, my son wanted nothing to do with getting in the pouch considering it is across from the playground!

Even though it was a little chilly out the kid’s just couldn’t resist these bright, yummy popsicles…brrr!

I also just wanted to post a couple of yummy recipes that I have made lately that I have found from fellow bloggers.

The first is Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies, I found this recipe at Just Give Me Stamps found here.

They are quite yummy, very “dense” & moist, my daughter wants nothing to do with them because of the texture but, my hubby likes them! I used butter instead of shortening & it seemed to work out fine.

The other recipe is Hearty Hamburger Soup, I made this recipe a few weeks back, I found the recipe from Paper Pleasing Ideas found here. It is really, really yummy & quick to make, I like anything where I can use only one pot, a crockpot or a casserole, my kid’s loved this soup too, freezes well. Julie has some other yummy recipes on her blog.

Just wanted to say thanks ladies for sharing, I love trying new recipes!

Easter and weekend events…

12 Apr

My kid’s have been on Spring / Easter Break since April 10th. The last few days have been very BUSY.

Thursday night I spent it making Easter egg tubes, Friday AM I went for a nice walk while my daughter rode her bike along with me, than I took my daughter and her friend to see Hannah Montana: The Movie, it was actually an OK movie! I also liked a couple of songs from her soundtrack, is that lame or what???

Than I got my daughter’s hair cut, than it was time to come home.

Saturday I had to run into town and finish some Easter stuff, look at the cute flower bouquet I bought for my SIL.

Lookey at my Easter bouquet that my friend Stacey gave me, I’m feel so spoiled and loved, aren’t they gorgeous? They just make me happy and they smell divine!

I thought this was a cool picture, I just love, love the color of this lily!

I was home by Noon and than my daughter had a friend over, my son had a friend over, and the neighbors were over playing, we all played outside and enjoyed the gorgeous weather, made a trip to the park with 5 crazy kids!!!, it was an all day play day…exhausting!

This is what happens when you have kid’s running in and out of your house going to the bathroom, there is bound to be an injury…

an almost beheaded Webkinz reindeer!!!

and today…Easter Sunday, this AM we got up early and ran around like crazy people and than we picked up my daughter’s friend and off we went to a Massive Easter Egg Hunt here in Airdrie at Nose Creek Park, it was great, 30,000 easter eggs, face painting, jumpy things, magician, hot dogs, pop and chips and gorgeous weather.

Than we came home so I could finish up my Easter cards, had an impromptu scavenger hunt that my daughter and her friend and put together Saturday, but, the timing really wasn’t great, we were trying to race out the door so we wouldn’t be late getting to my SIL’s to celebrate Easter with our annual Easter egg hunt and yummy dinner.

Today has been an absolute wonderful day, a real blessing.

I hope you and your family had a wonderfully, blessed Easter.

I am now absolutely, blessedly tired! Tomorrow will be a day of rest!

Have a good one and thanks for visiting and reading my ramblings!

Eye candy…

06 Apr

These little “darlin’s” (I use this term very, VERY loosely!) are my sweet, eye candy!

Spring has sprung here, not sure how long for though, right now it’s 11C PLUS & it’s suppose to be a little bit higher all week so I took the kid’s to the park after school for some much needed fresh air & fun & managed to get some cute pics.

When my son chooses to have his picture taken he is a ham indeed!

Their smiles always make my day a whole lot brighter.

My son holding onto my daughter so she doesn’t fall!!!

Roller Derby…

05 Apr

My 36th birthday was Friday, I have been dreading my birthday over the last couple of weeks, another year closer to 40 & not being exactly where I want to be in life right now…so I was really trying to just by pass the whole day all together, but, some people just wouldn’t let that happen!

My daughter made me a little video on our new Flip Video, she sang a song for me & wished me a Happy Birthday, very sweet! I got a very sweet mug that I wanted and my in-laws came out to Airdrie and took us all for a yummy dinner than came back to our place with a birthday cake and ice cream, very sweet!

Isn’t this an awesome mug? I love it, pink polka dots, pink and a lovely verse.

Last night I went to the Roller Derby with my friend & her daughter &  her friend & my daughter, this was the first time for all of us, I didn’t even know a Roller Derby existed until I saw them on our morning news show one day – I thought how fun! It’s definately a mixed crowd of people, all ages – young & old, it’s very entertaining – we enjoyed ourselves. Before the Roller Derby we met and had Vietnamese for dinner – yumm-o! It was a late night – so today will be a relaxing, quiet day. The weather is suppose to be nice today and double digits all week – yippee! So we will definately be getting outside to enjoy the fresh air and sunshine.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Cute pic…

28 Mar

The weather here has been so up & down, one day we are wearing hoodies & runners, the next it’s back to boots, snowpants, hats, scarves, mitts, winter jackets, it’s just crazy & it really, really takes a tole on you, your attitude, the kid’s really are starting to get cabin fever, I’m sure of it & we are always doing something no matter the weather so yesterday it was about 3C, the sun was shining, snow was melting so in the afternoon we went for a long walk & ended up at a little park, it was nice to get some much needed fresh air.

Here is a pic of my son & daughter I captured playing together, enjoying their time together, not fighting, not whining, just enjoying eachother’s company…for once!

Definately a picture for the scrapbooks!!!

I hope today brings sunshine & warmer temp’s I know just for a bit, because the snow is coming yet AGAIN!

Well since I posted so early this AM, I kinda jumped the “gun”, it’s a dark, cloudy day today & the snow has already been falling for about an hour. The bright, blue sky in this picture is already a distant memory!!!

I am currently working on a couple of “creative” projects but, can’t finish them quite yet as I’m waiting for something to come in the mail to finish off a couple of them…so soon I will post something “creative”, that’s why you visit me…right??? not to look at pics of my adorable kid’s!!!

Have a great weekend & don’t forget Earth Hour tonight.
